The 4th ‘Stand up India’ awareness and asset distribution programme was held at Indira Priyadarsini Auditorium in Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) here on Friday in which local MLA M Suguna has participated as chief guest and distributed assets to beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA lauded the efforts of the Collector for his success in rplacing the district at the top of list among other districts in the state.

On Friday, 78 beneficiaries have been given Rs 12.05 crore assets. The MLA said that so far, 596 beneficiaries belong to SC and ST communities have benefitted with the programme. Though it was a central government scheme, the Chief Minister took special interest for the benefit of SC and ST population and provided 35 per cent subsidy for men and 45 per cent subsidy women.

Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman G Narasimha Yadav said that the Chief Minister’s wish was to uplift the SC and ST communities. He urged the beneficiaries to repay the loans promptly so that bankers will come forward to provide more loans. Andhra Bank AGM Krishna Mohan attributed the success of the scheme in the district to the Collector.

While the central government issued guidelines that every bank should give two ‘Stand up India’ loans in the District and Andhra Bank alone has provided loans to 134 beneficiaries, the AGM stated. District’s Lead Bank Manager R Rammohan Rao, DRDA PD Ravi Prakash Reddy and NABARD AGM Prasanth also spoke on the occasion and explained the eligibility criteria for the scheme.

They said that the 37 banks in the district, who have 574 branches will provide a total of 1,148 loans to beneficiaries under the ‘Stand up India’ scheme. Each one can get Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore loan for business purpose. DTW Srinivasa Rao, MEPMA PD Jyothi, SBI GM Purnachandra Rao, Grameena Bank RM Jayaram Naidu, Indian Bank AGM Seshaiah, DICCI representatives David, Praveen and others participated.
