Visakhapatnam: Programme adviser on Left wing extremists and former DGP K Durga Prasad asked the district administration to gear up for laying of roads in the interior areas of agency.

Durga Prasad convened a meeting with the forest and panchayat raj officials to review the road works in the Maoist affected areas in the agency. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the works, including Pradhana Mantri Grameena Sadak Yojana works, should be completed at a brisk pace. While discussing about the delay in getting the clearances from the forest department, he directed the officials to pursue the matter with the officials concerned on a priority basis.

While disclosing about the works and the progress in the agency, superintending engineer of panchayat raj department Venugopal said that 54 works were proposed and the government sanctioned 25 works. The department invited tenders for 14 works out of sanctioned 25, but no single tender was filed so far.

However, second time tenders are invited to take up the works. Meanwhile, a survey was completed for another 33 works and awaiting for the forest clearances. Collector Pravin Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Visakhapatnam Rural Rahul Dev Sharma and Narsipatnam OSD Ariff Hafiz were present.
