As part of initiating the better measures for clearing the dry and wet waste from the temple city, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has purchased 50 battery-powered vehicles at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore for clearing the segregated garbage from the narrow roads of the temple city. Hyderabad-based company which supplied the vehicles has assured of vehicle maintenance for three years.

Tirupati: As part of initiating the better measures for clearing the dry and wet waste from the temple city, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has purchased 50 battery-powered vehicles at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore for clearing the segregated garbage from the narrow roads of the temple city. Hyderabad-based company which supplied the vehicles has assured of vehicle maintenance for three years.

Now, removing of garbage is easy from the narrow and congested roads while MCT officials had tested the vehicles functioning one day ago along with Tirupati IIT electrical and mechanical engineers. They expressed satisfaction about the battery-operated mini garbage lifting autos performance. The vehicle can carry garbage of more than one tonne and runs nonstop up to 120 km distance with one-time battery charging.

Auto truck has designed in the view of narrow roads in Tirupati. The MCT has entered MoU with Hyderabad-based Gamyam Motors for purchase of the battery run autos with union government funds. Civic body has purchased these vehicles with smart city project funds.

It may be noted that presently civic body is clearing the garbage at inner roads with manual labour only. Related to this new initiative, Municipal Engineer M Johnny speaking to The Hans India said that it is very useful to reduce the work pressure on manual labour.
