Tirupati: An abandoned air pistol was spotted by some pilgrims before the check point of Srivari Mettu in Tirumala on Tuesday and they brought to the notice of the TTD vigilance officials. The TTD security personnel and cops rushed to the spot and seized the air pistol with a pouch.

The seizure of air pistol has created a sensation ahead of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his family visit to Tirumala on Tuesday night. The cops sounded a high alert in Tirumala and Tirupati with the seizure of air pistol.

Meanwhile, the TTD vigilance staff and policemen have launched the cordon and search operation in the forest area and tighten the security at Alipiri check post and GNC toll gate. It may be noted that it is the third incident in the last two months in which firearms were seized in Tirumala Hills.

The Tirupati urban police have drafted more than 600 police personnel for the Chief Minister’s security at Tirumala and Tirupati. Chandrababu family will have Lord Venkateswara darshan in the early hours of Wednesday. Interestingly, the TTD vigilance officials did not disclose the details of air pistol seizure due to the Chief Minister’s visit to Tirumala.
