Srikakulam: Student Police Cadet Programme (SPCP) will help in achieving healthy and safe society, said Superintendent of Police Dr CM Trivikrama Varma.

As part of awareness and material distribution programme for selective schools on Wednesday, he explained importance of SPCP. It was launched in Kerala and yielded good results. In this backdrop, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) designed a curriculum and syllabus for two years duration. Entry level for SPCP is Class VIII or Class IX.

“As part of SPCP, 10 schools have been selected across the district to train students and material like computers, printers, boards, public address systems distributed by the Superintendent of Police to school managements.

With the material, students can learn traffic awareness, road safety, fight against social evils like child marriages, safety of women and children, prevention of corruption and disaster management. In addition to it, selective students from all 10 schools will be provided field exercises on the curriculum.
