Replying to a question on ‘Amaravati Capital City Development’ in the Assembly during the Question Hour on Saturday, the Minister said that five structures would be constructed in Amaravati administrative capital including one with 46 floors to accommodate CM’s office and four 40-floor structures for administrative purpose of other heads and ministries.
The Administrative capital including Justice City would be built in 1,450 acres, he added.
The designs have been finalised and the Norman Foster Company would hand over the designs to the State government officially on March 29 and tender process for construction works would be completed by the end of April.
According to him, each structure consists of 40 lakh sq ft. plinth area. Foreign dignitaries can reach the Chief Minister’s office directly through the helipad situated on the top of one of the structures.
The multistoried building would also have a facility which would enable people to have an aerial view of Amaravati capital, the Minister said.
He said that the capital city would be developed in 217 sq km radius with 9 cities, 27 townships and 10 neighborhoods in each township.
The Assembly building would be constructed with 8.5 lakh sq ft plinth area and the High Court with 2 lakh sq ft plinth area.
The Minister said that 3,840 apartments would be constructed including 144 for the IAS officers each with 3,500 sq ft. area. Two ring roads will be developed including outer ring road with 186 km length and 8-lane 97.5 km inner ring road.
Already the notification has been issued for land pooling for inner ring road, he said. "A park would be developed in 380 acres in the capital city," he added.
The Minister said roads would be developed at a stretch of 1,600 kilometres. It has been planned to construct five iconic bridges on Krishna river. Five reservoirs will be developed to prevent flood threat from Kondaveetivagu and Palavagu to the capital city, he added.
The Minister said that the Central government released Rs 1,500 crore for capital development so far. He said that a detailed project report (DPR) was submitted for works worth Rs 11,600 crore as part of capital city development especially for administrative capital city. He said that funds worth Rs 1,07,000 crore are required for total capital construction.
He said that the government started providing infrastructure facilities in the allotted plots to land owners in 29 villages.BJP floor leader P Vishnukumar Raju raised objections over the expenditure for capital construction.
He asked the government why the huge structures and funds are required for capital city.
Government whip K Ravi Kumar took strong objection to the comments of BJP floor leader. He pointed out that the neighbouring States have also established large capital cities.
The capital city shows the pride and strength of the State, he said. He also said that the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not extend any support to the capital city of Andhra Pradesh though he had assured cooperation for the same.
