Tirupati: Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh challenged YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy if he had any guts to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the injustice done to Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the gathering at SVU Tarakarama Stadium in Tirupati at ‘Dharma Poratam’ public meeting on Monday, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi lacked interest in sanctioning the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

The YSRCP should question Modi and BJP. Instead of doing this, what was the motive in criticising the Chief Minister who has been working hard for development of the State, Lokesh questioned. He said that the BJP deceived the State by saying in the first year after coming to power that they would give SCS to Andhra Pradesh. While in the second year they continued to say that they were just about to give it.

In the third year, they took a U-turn and said that no State would be given SCS in future and instead, a special package will be given which will have more benefits than SCS. But in the fourth year of their rule, they continued SCS to other States and betrayed AP, he lambasted.

The TDP had forged an alliance with the BJP with a view that a national party can do justice to the State, though the saffron party does not have strength in Andhra Pradesh. “But, they have shattered all dreams,” Lokesh said expressing resentment.

He pointed out that though the State had been facing revenue deficit of Rs 16,000 crore, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was working hard to see that the people of the State do not face any problems.

He said DWACRA women were already paid Rs 8000 already as promised before elections and the remaining Rs 2000 would be credited in their accounts soon. Coming out heavily on the BJP Central leadership, the Minister asked them not to resort to cheap politics.

He pointed out that the party was once led by great leaders like A B Vajpayee and L K Advani. But now their leaders were facing allegations of involvement in corruption and also resorting to backdoor politics.

Lokesh assured the people that he will continue in politics for another 40 years and would never do anything adverse which will bring bad name to his grandfather N T Rama Rao and father Chandrababu Naidu. He expressed strong hope that despite the conspiracies of BJP and YSRCP, the TDP would win the 2019 elections with huge majority.
