Out of 298 schools in the district, basic installation has been completed in 130 schools and more than 70 schools were provided with computers. 

Nellore: Come June, the students of the government schools in the district will learn subjects virtually where online learning environment is created accessing through a portal or software and participate in the synchronous instruction in which teacher and students are actively involved at the same time. Now, the district administration is planning to implement the programme in 298 schools across the district.

Officials are going to set up a digital studio in District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) at Pallipadu for making the programme a reality in the schools where equipment has been already installed. Out of 298 schools in the district, basic installation has been completed in 130 schools and more than 70 schools were provided with computers.

Officials are planning to complete the process before June 1 for starting the classrooms as and when entire technical process is over. Interestingly, these virtual classrooms would also be provided with air-conditioning facility for convenience of the technical equipment and also for smooth running of classes without any disturbances.

District officials are going to set up virtual classrooms in Atmakur, Ananthasagaram, AS Pet, Marripadu, Sangam, Rapur, Chejarla, Kaluvoya, Podalakur, Nellore rural, Gudur and also in Venkatagiri mandals initially. A screen, film/slide projector and a computer with high speed internet facility are required for a virtual classroom. Lessons for the classes from 6 to 10 will be taught only through virtual system. If all things go normally as planned, classes would be started from June, said the official.

The state government also planned to digitise around 5,000 schools across the state and the district administration too had designed plans to implement the programme giving a big boost to the government education.

“Virtual classrooms contain teaching activities such as group and individual learning, discussions and chats through digital communication, quizzes and surveys, homework and assignments, online courses and modules where physical presence is really not needed. It inculcates independent learning which improves their self-confidence and learning capabilities,” said Prof S Sasidhar Babu, an expert in the field.
