Srikakulam: Underscoring the need for continuation of one party in power, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday appealed to the people not to commit 2004 mistake but elect the TDP once again in 2019 for the development process to continue in the state without any interruption.

Addressing a public meeting at Chinnakittalapadu in the district after laying foundation stone for the Bonthu Lift Irrigation scheme and interacting with people at rachchabanda, Naidu said that elections in 2019 would be very crucial for the state and the people have to use their wisdom and elect the TDP as it is wedded to the cause of developing the state.

He recalled the development works taken up during the last four years and if they have to be commissioned in time, it was necessary that the TDP should come to power once again. Terming forces inimical to the TDP in the state as obstructionist to development, Naidu said the YSRCP was trying to derail the development works in the state.

The YSRCP which has covert support from the BJP was trying to tarnish the image of the TDP government, he said and recalled how the BJP had betrayed the interests of the state though the TDP remained a faithful partner in the NDA. He expressed surprise over the new entrants into the political landscape, implying Jana Sena, attacking the TDP.

Naidu, giving an account of welfare programmes initiated by his government said that it was providing social welfare pensions for 50 lakh families and waived Rs 24,000 crore agriculture loans of farmers. Naidu spent considerable time interacting with people at rachchabanda where the people sought to know the details of the welfare programmes initiated by the state government.

Those who took part in the meeting included Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Pithani Satyanarayana, K Kala Venkata Rao and K Atchchennaidu.
