AP State-level badminton tourney kicks-off
AP State Mini Badminton Championship-2018 for boys and girls in singles/doubles under 10, 12 and 14 have commenced at AC Subba Reddy Sports Complex in the city on Friday. MLA P Anil Kumar Yadav inaugurated the badminton tourney formally.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA alleged the State government had failed to allocate adequate funds for development of sports. He also said that many sports personnel are waiting for play grounds and indoor stadiums and special training for participating in the national and international events. “Sports will keep the body fit. When our body is physically fit then we will be able to face psychological issues,” said the legislator.
He called upon the children and youth to play games regularly for healthy life. AP Badminton Association State Vice-President and Deputy Mayor M Dwarakanath said that they had developed the indoor stadium in the AC Subbareddy Sports Complex with the help of donors.
“We are planning to provide special training to players in badminton for national-level events. Government has to allocate additional funds for developing infrastructure in the sports complex,” said Dwarakanath. Players across the state have enrolled their names for badminton tournament for the three-day event, he added.
