Scores of poor people, including women staged a dharna at Village Administrative Officer’s (VAO) office in Dumpagadapa village in Akiveedu mandal on Sunday, demanding that the government sanction house site pattas to the eligible poor in the village and conduct an inquiry into the illegal collection of money from the poor in the name of levelling of sites.
Akiveedu: Scores of poor people, including women staged a dharna at Village Administrative Officer’s (VAO) office in Dumpagadapa village in Akiveedu mandal on Sunday, demanding that the government sanction house site pattas to the eligible poor in the village and conduct an inquiry into the illegal collection of money from the poor in the name of levelling of sites.
Addressing the dharna, the CPM District Committee member, B Satyanarayana demanded that the officials conduct an inquiry into the collection of money illegally from poor people in the name of levelling of sites in Dumpagadapa village.
He said that the officials had identified 367 poor people in Dumpagadapa PP Road in 2005 for sanctioning of house sites.
However, the ruling TDP leaders now announced 163 people as eligible and if they want the sites, they have to pay money for the levelling of house sites.
They entrusted the task to a Panchayat employee. He demanded an immediate probe into the incident and sanction the house sites to the poor people.
CPM village secretary L Ramesh presided over the dharna.
MPTC member Ambati Ramesh said that the house sites were purchased during YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime and even after nine years, local MLA did not distribute the house sites in that land.
He alleged that the local MLA was involved in collection of the money from the poor on the pretext of levelling of the house sites.
CPM leaders, victims committee leaders Nimmala Srinu, Bandari Ramu, Penki Appa Rao and others led the dharna.
