Kurnool: Strongly denying suggestions from some opposition parties that TDP may strike an alliance with Congress in future, Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister K E Krishna Murthy said he would hang himself if such situation arises. He made this statement while addressing a press conference at TDP office here on Wednesday.
Reminding that the TDP had come into existence as an strong opponent of Congress, he wondered how such a party would join hands with the Congress. “It is a ridiculous allegation. The opposition parties are carrying out false propaganda distorting a brief encounter between TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Congress president Rahul Gandhi when both of them attended swearing-in ceremony of HD Kumara Swamy in Bengaluru.
Attending the oathtaking ceremony doesn’t mean Naidu is going to an have alliance with Congress in the general elections,” he said. Taking strong exception to the allegations by opposition YSRCP leaders that his family members were running the administration in the district, the visibly angry and upset Deputy Chief Minister warned his detractors not to drag his family into these controversies and dared them to contest against him or his family members anywhere in the district.
Dismissing resignations of YSRCP MPs as “political drama”, Krishna Murthy said party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy had been telling people that his MPs would quit Lok Sabha for the last two years. “Why did not Lok Sabha Speaker accept resignations of YSRCP members for so long while accepting resignations of members of other parties immediately? This delay clearly establish the secret understanding between Jagan and BJP. People are not foolish enough to believe Jagan and Pawan any further. They are just waiting for an opportunity to teach a fitting lesson to the duo,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Heaping praise on the Chief Minister, the revenue minister said Naidu was working 18 hours a day to develop the revenue-deficit state and launched several welfare schemes despite financial constraints. He said with mega solar park, seed park and the proposed steel plant, Kurnool district is going to be an industrial corridor and added that Orvakal airport, renamed as Kurnool airport, would go functional soon.
Krishna Murthy said owing to his relentless efforts 68 ponds have been sanctioned to be fill with Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi canal waters and Pulikanuma, Pulakarthi, RDS and Vedavathi projects would be taken up in the coming days. Nava Nirmana Deeksha is being observed with a view to know the people and the woes first hand, he said.
TDP district president Somi Shetty Venkateshwarulu, city MLA S V Mohan Reddy, Y Nageshwara Rao Yadav, Mallikarjuna Reddy and other party leaders participated and spoke on the occasion.
