Amaravati: Information and Public Relations Minister Kalava Srinivasulu alleged that YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had neglected the BCs politically and described him as an enemy of BCs. He said Jaganmohan Reddy and his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy neglected the BCs in all sectors including politically and socially.
Reacting to the criticism made by Jagan that the TDP was suppressing the BCs in the State, Srinivasulu addressing a press conference at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Monday, questioned Jagan as to how many seats he had allotted for the BCs during 2014 elections.
He alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy was giving all political powers, authority on resources and other benefits only to members of the Reddy community. Despite his gimmicks, the BCs would not believe Jagan, the Minister said.
Quoting the names of YSRCP Lok Sabha members including Y S Avinash Reddy, Y V Subba Reddy, P Mithun Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and Rajya Sabha members V Vijayasai Reddy and Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, the TDP leader demanded that Jagan should explain to which community they belonged.
Further, Srinivasulu pointed out that Jagan also gave Public Accounts Committee chairmanship to another Reddy, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, the only political post that YSRCP held in the Assembly Committees.
There was no social balance within YSRCP and it was being headed by a monarch Jaganmohan Reddy, the Minister said. Jagan was taking decisions unilaterally for the benefit of his own community at the cost of all other communities including BCs, SCs and STs, Kalava said.
“If there is no reservation policy, Jagan would not give the tickets for MLAs and MPs to SCs and STs,” he remarked. The Minister criticised Jagan and his father Rajasekhara Reddy for doing nothing to the BCs. On the other hand, the TDP is known as BCs party and they own it, he said.
He explained that BC leaders like K Yerran Naidu in north Andhra, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu in Godavari region, KE Krishna Murthy in Rayalaseema and Devender Goud in Telangana emerged as strong leaders in the TDP under the leadership of TDP founder N T Rama Rao and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Currently, Chandrababu Naidu gave ministerial berths to 8 BC leaders in his Cabinet, he pointed out. Whereas, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy provided majority berths in his Cabinet to members of his community, Srinivasulu recalled.
TDP government appointed a BC leader as the TTD Chairman now, but the YSRCP was questioning the appointment, he added. Stating that the TDP is committed to the welfare of BCs, Kalava said the TDP introduced BC Sub-Plan for the first time in the country. It provided scholarships to students and strengthened the BC Corporation.
