Visakhapatnam: Normally, locals will pour out their woes in the villages during the ministers and higher officials visits but Collector Pravin Kumar experienced a different scene at A Bhimavaram village in K Kotapadu mandal in the district on Friday.

During his visit as a part of ‘Grama Darsini’ (village visit) programme, the Collector visited the village and spent a few hours in the village, surprisingly, and no one either lodged complaints or informed about their grievances.

Expressing his surprise, Collector Pravin Kumar said that it is for the first time that no issue was brought to his notice during his visit. “Where ever I visit the people will bring to me a lot of issues and problems but A Bhimvaram is a different village. If the people cooperate, I will develop the village into a model one in the country,” Pravin Kumar said.

While interacting with the villagers on various government programmes and development schemes, he asked them to inform him, if they have any problems in the village. However, locals informed the Collector that with the coordination of the elected representatives, mandal and district-level officials, village is getting the government aid and schemes.

After having the information from the officials, the Collector said that with the help of the locals, the tank in the village was developed and 900 acres of lands is being cultivated under the tank.

The Collector informed the officials to develop the local tank further and take up plantation programme on the tank bund as a theme park in the village. The Collector also directed the officials to develop the main CC road as a BT road with the NABARD funds.

The Collector also informed that the Panchayat Raj and Anganwadi building construction would be started in a week. The Collector, along with the elected representatives, visited the entire village and observed the sanitation works and individual toilets.

He visited Anganwadi centre and inspected the menu and distribution of the special diet to the pregnant women. Later, he inspected the school and also had mid-day meal, along with the students.

Later, addressing the media, the Collector expressed his happiness and satisfaction on various government schemes and development works in the village. RDO Suryakala, special deputy collector Govindarajulu and other officials were present.
