Vijayawada: The 27 km stretch from Vaikuntapuram and Chodavaram in Krishna district along Krishna river would get a boost from the proposed development plans by the state government. The state government has decided to develop the Krishna river bunds and its surroundings in the particular stretch with tourism attractions as a part of Amaravati capital city development plan.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to take action in this regard while the CRDA and tourism department are jointly chalking out plans. The state government wants to develop along Krishna river in Amaravati capital stretch with multipurpose schemes, including tourism attractions and public utility projects.
As a part of it, the state government has proposed a reservoir at Vaikuntapuram in Krishna district. Nearly, 10 tmc feet of water could be stored in the reservoir and the bridge would connect the Krishna and Guntur districts by providing way for Amaravati capital. The state government finalised designs and called for tenders for bridge at Ibrahimpatnam in Krishna district. It is the main entry to Amaravati capital city from north side.
Already, the tourism department constructed cottages at Punnami Ghat. Similarly, now the capital city is being constructed as river view city in Guntur district side. Various tourism attractions are proposed in the river course area. Meanwhile, golf courses and water sports are proposed in the islands of Krishna river.
Apart from this, the state government is now focused to develop the downstream of Prakasam Barrage also. The government finalised two check dams at Chodavaram village and Srikakulam village in Krishna districts. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to develop the whole stretch from the Prakasam Barrage to Chodarvaram with tourism attractions.
The officials of CRDA have plans to introduce water sports, walking tracks, sitting area, cottages, floating restaurants, amusement parks, gaming zone, clubs and beach sports like volleyball, kabaddi and athletic tracks.
Senior official speaking to The Hans India said that the 27 km stretch would be divided into different tourism zones. The special attractions would be introduced on zonal based system, he said. He further stated that the tradition and culture would be given priority in one zone.
