Visakhapatnam: With Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu issuing a stringent warning to the officials over the spurt in dengue and other viral fever cases in the district, the district administration started damage control measures here on Sunday.

District Collector Pravin Kumar directed the officials of public health, medical, sanitation and other departments to rush to the affected areas including Agency areas to take up immediate measures to contain the dengue and other deadly viral fevers.

He also asked the officials to visit all the villages to prevent the dengue and other deadly fevers. Convening a meeting with Assembly constituency special officers, mandal special officers, panchayat officers, medical officers and GVMC officials at the Collectorate here on Sunday, the Collector directed the officials to conduct door-to-door campaign and enroll the viral and dengue-affected patients.

The officials should conduct village walk at all dengue-hit areas in the district including in the divisions of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation limits, the Collector said.

The Collector directed the medical and health department officials to cancel the leaves of medical officers and ask them to report at their respective hospitals immediately.

While conducting a video-conference on Saturday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed serious concern over the spurt in dengue cases in the Visakhapatnam district. The Chief Minister asked the district administration to take up preventive measures to minimise the dengue and other viral fevers in the district. Naidu also warned the officials that he would initiate stringent action on those officials who are not seriously discharging their duties efficiently.

In the review meeting, the Collector directed the officials to ensure medical kits available at every village. All the Asha workers, Sadhikara Mitra, MPHOs and MPHEs should be available in the villages, the Collector directed.
