Bhimavaram: Cracks were developed in tail-end lands causing anxiety among the farming community. About 600 acres under Matsyapuri old and new canals were not getting water from crop canal.
One of the three sub-canals under Veeravasaram west canal was full of hyacinth and other vegetation.
This growth of vegetation was preventing water flow into canal that leads to Matsyapuri.
The farmers in 50 per cent of total 1,200 acres under Matsyapuri have been a distressed lot as canal water was not reaching.
The fields which received good amount of rain water have filled hope of good farmers among the farmers.
However, with no rains and no supply of water from the canal, the fields started to dry up.
Even cracks were developed in the lands reflecting the seriousness of the problem.
