Nellore: After a brief lull, ISRO is launching S-Bank SAR platform and a high-resolution Earth observation satellite by PSLV-C42 into a 583 km Sun synchronous orbit from the first launch pad at SHAR, Sriharikota on Sunday which is its full-fledged commercial launch. The two satellites will weigh approximately 889 kg.

The Antrix Corporation Limited, commercial arm of ISRO, has been contracted by the Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL), United Kingdom for the launch of their two satellites - NovaSAR and S1-4.

NovaSAR is an S-Band platform synthetic aperture radar (SAR) which is a small satellite intended for forest mapping, land use and ice cover monitoring, flood and disaster monitoring, ship detection and maritime monitoring facilities besides having automatic identification receiver.

S1-4 is a high-resolution optical Earth observation satellite which will be used for surveying resources, environment monitoring, urban management and disaster monitoring.
