Visakapatnam: Minster for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao flagged off the tourism walk to mark the World Tourism Day celebrations at the RK beach here on Thursday.
District Collector Pravin Kumar, VMRDA Commissioner Basanth Kumar, GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayanan, tours operators and representatives from various hotels were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the city had hosted many international events in the past now again conducting the World Tourism Day here. Already, the tourism department officials submitted their proposals to the government to develop the tourism spots in the district, including rural tourism, tribal tourism, Buddhist circuit and re-development of beach front projects at an estimated cost of Rs 260 crore.
The state government was celebrating the World Tourism Day every year with various themes, and for 2018, the theme was Tourism and Digital transformation and all the development projects would be carried out according to the theme, the minister said.
