Vijayawada: To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, members of Sarvodaya Trust and school children participated in a programme held at Freedom Fighters Building here on Tuesday.

The members garlanded the idol of Mahatma Gandhi. The trust president Dr GV Mohan Prasad made all the trust members and school children present on the occasion to take oath for World Peace.

He said that Mahatma Gandhi had strived for equality among people and fought for a nation without differences of religion, caste and colour.

“We all should follow Gandhiji’s principles for a peaceful nation,” he added.

Senior Citizen Welfare Association secretary M Venkateswara Rao said that elders should be given respect and safeguard ethical values in society.

He appealed everyone to feel the responsibility to protect environment.

Sociologist Baby Kamalamma, K Ahalya, G Malathi, Y Krishna Prasad, SRR Murthy, K Vijaya Kumar and Gandhi Public School students were present.
