Singarayakonda: A man, who tried to kill his two children by pouring pesticide into their mouths, has consumed the same in a state of depression. The children have escaped from the death, but their father is dead and his body was found in their car.

The incident took place on Sunday morning, near Malineni Lakshmaiah Engineering College in Chinakanumalla village of Singarayakonda mandal in Prakasam district.

Singarayakonda Rural SI P Prabhakar said that Kunchala Nagaraju, 35, a native of Sanampudi village in Singarayakonda mandal, married Veenakumari, 26, 8 years ago. The couple has a 7-year-old son Divya Raghunandan and a 5-year-old daughter Sahasra. The family has shifted to Hafeezpet in Hyderabad as Nagaraju was working at building constructions in Hyderabad.

Last week, Veenakumari committed suicide in Hafeezpet due to family disputes. On Saturday, he took their children in the car and reached Singarayakonda in the night. Instead of going to native village, he drove to the fields on the backside of Malineni Lakshmaiah Engineering College and consumed pesticide.

He forced the children to consume the same, but they rejected it and ran into fields. Locals found the body of Nagaraju in his car and children weeping for help in the nearby fields on Sunday morning and informed the police. The police said the children will be given custody to their family members.
