Guntur: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu expressed serious concern over falling values in politics and added that statements of some leaders are lowering their image.
He presented Dr Ramineni Foundation-2018 Visistha Puraskaaram to badminton champion and coach Dr. Pullela Gopichand, VeseshaPuraskarams to Maha Sahasraavadhani Dr.Garikapati Narasimha Rao, film director Nag Ashwin Reddy and author of children’s literature Chokkapu Venkata Ramana at a programme held at CKFunction Hall near Mangalagiri on Sunday.
Speaking on this occasion, he felt that leaders using language for criticising other leaders also not good and added that this kind of trend will lower the image of political system. This kind of trend is continuing not only in two Telugu states, but also in other states, he said.
Venkaiah Naidu said, “Leaders should have conduct, capacity, caliber. Some leaders are using caste, region and cash in the politics. It is the responsibility of the voters to elect good leaders in the elections.”
He lauded the services Dr.Ramineni Foundation for rendering services to their motherland though they settled in USA. He urged the youth to learn,earn while in abroad and come back to motherland to serve people. He explained the significance of Indian culture. Students may learn several languages,but they should speak mother tongue at the home.
He said, Prime Ministers of various countries speak in their mother-tongue, though they can speak English. He said that some officials will translate and explain the matter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.He felt that teaching should be in mother-tongue.
He appreciated the Dr.Ramineni Foundation for giving awards to various persons who rendered services in their fields to encourage them. Earlier, he presented the awards and felicitated them. The recipients, in turn, felicitated Venkaiah Naidu.
Indian Cricket team former captain Kapil Dev,chief selector BCCI, MSK Prasad, Minister for Civil Supplies PrattipatiPulla Rao and Ramineni Foundation USA, chairman Ramineni Dharma Pracharak were present.
