Koyyalagudem: The AP Rytu Sangham has demanded that the government offer Rs 50 lakh per acre compensation to the farmers who lost their lands in Greenfield highway evacuees.
The sangham expressed its solidarity farmers staging Vanta-Varpu protest at the fields on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the sangham assistant secretary K Srinivas criticised the government for trying to acquire about 250 acres of land from farmers belonging to Rajavaram, Yeduvagulapalem, Ponguturu and Kannayagudem villages.
He demanded that the government should hold consultations with the farmers before acquiring the land. As per land acquisition act, the government should take the prior consent of the 80 per cent farmers (victims).
However, the government had been illegally snatching the lands from the farmers, he alleged.
The farmers and women who participated in the protest raised slogans against the government.
