The district had received an average of 76.9 mm rainfall from Wednesday late night. Moderate to heavy rainfall reported in northern parts of the district; Gudur and Doravarisatram mandals have received the highest rainfall of 16 cm. Naidupeta, Sullurpeta and Chillakur received 14 cm; Pellakuru and Dakkili 13 cm; Kota and Ozili 12 cm; Manubolu 11 cm; Sydapuram, Balayapalli, Vakadu, and Tada 11 cm; Rapur 9 cm; Vidavalur, Podalakuru, Venkatachalam and Chittamur 8 cm; Venkatagiri, Dagadarthi, Kodavaluru, Sangam received 7 cm of rainfall during last 24 hours.
Upland mandals in the district have also received moderate rainfall of 3-6 cm. The downpour resulted in the drains overflowing onto the roads obstructing movement of vehicular traffic and commuters as several low-lying areas in the city giving inconvenience to the people. People have faced troubles with rainfall in the city due to the ongoing underground drainage and water works.
Interior lanes in the city especially located in Balaji Nagar, Ramalingapuram, Usmahsahebpeta, NTR Nagar and also other areas that have become worse due to rainfall. Pedestrians also had tough time at Gandhi Statue Centre, also at under bridges of Ramalinga Puram and Atmakur bus stand areas with overflowing of water. Rainwater had entered into the houses located in Prasanthi Nagar in Gudur, Gandhi Nagar and many localities in Sullurupet town. Rains brought smiles on the faces of farmers as they started agriculture activity.
