Dr Ambedkar remembered on Constitution Day

Ongole: Dr BR Ambedkar strived for the welfare of weaker sections and to establish an equal society in the country, said Prakasam district collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand. He participated in the National Constitution Day celebrations in Ongole on Monday.
After garlanding the statue and paying rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar at the HCM Junior College, the collector said that the Constitution Day is being celebrated to remember that the Constitution is accepted on November 26, 1949 and the services of Dr Ambedkar in drafting it.
He said that the Union government has ordered celebration every year on Novemebr 26 as a token of respect since the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambdekar.
He said that a number of development and welfare programs will be taken up in the district with the inspiration from Dr Ambedkar. Later at the CPO Conference Hall, the trainee collector Nishanti, DRO C Venkata Subbaiah administered the pledge by the heads of various departments that they respect the Constitution and deliver services with its true spirit.
In the Constitution Day celebrations by the Police Department at the Galaxy Meeting Hall in the District Police Office, the district superintendent of police Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu read out the preamble of the Constitution, after garlanding the photograph of Dr BR Ambedkar.
He also administered oath taking by the staff to implement the Constitution in word and spirit. Additional SP K Lavanya Lakshmi, DAR DSP A Raghavendra Rao and other officials also participated in the programme.
The principal of the St Ann’s College of Engineering and Technology in Chirala, Dr P Ravi Kumar, National Service Scheme programme officer M Pavan saw that the teaching and non-teaching staff along with the students take the oath to respect the Constitution in a programme held in the college on Monday.
In a similar programme held in QIS College of Engineering and Technology in Ongole, STEP CEO Dr B Ravi Kumar, district youth welfare officer Gideon, Indian Red Cross Society Prakasam district chairman Dr Raghava participated along with the college principal Dr Dhulipalla Venkatarao, NSS director Dr Vasubabu, ECE HoD Dr Himabindu and others and explained the importance of the Constitution and the struggles faced by the then leaders to bring it into force.
