Nellore: Cops cracked a murder mystery of trader which had created sensation in the city. The trader was killed at Rythu Baazar in Fathekhanpet on October 3. The cops took a person into custody, who is close relative of the deceased.

The accused was identified as Rajapurohit Vikram Singh (27). Disclosing the case details at Umesh Chandra conference hall here on Monday, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Aishwarya Rastogi said that Rajapurohit Mahendra Singh (40), who resides in Akkanavari Street in Fathekhanpet along with his family has been running power tool business for more than 10 years.

‘Vikram Singh is the son of Mahendra Singh’s own brother. He employed him in his Komal Power Tools shop. He subsequently extended his business by opening another shop in Santhapeta area after Vikram Singh got married. Then, Mahendra Singh deputed Vikram Singh as in-charge of the shop of Santhapet.

But, Vikram Singh, who witnessed luring profits from the shop, had greedily showed losses to Mahendra Singh,’ said the SP. With this, Mahendra Singh sent Vikram back to Tirupati where his father resides. Mahendra Singh also promised that he would construct a house to his father in Rajasthan, but he failed to do keep his promise.

When Vikram Singh questioned about construction of house, Mahendra Singh was silent and had not responded, said the SP. Consequently, Vikram had developed hatred towards Mahendra Singh and plotted to kill him.

‘Vikram Singh engaged contract killers to kill Mahendra Singh by offering Rs 8 lakh to the gang. On October 3rd, miscreants opened four rounds of fire with a pistol at Rajapurohit Mahendra Singh in which he received sever injuries.

Then, the assailants escaped on a motorcycle towards Magunta Layout,’ the SP said. Chinna Bazar police filed a case and nabbed the accused after investigating in Rajasthan and also in other places.

A man hunt was launched to nab other accused in the case who opened fire at Mahendra Singh, said Aishwarya Rastogi. Additional SP (Admin) P Parameswar Reddy, City DSP NBM Murali Krishna and others were present.
