Visakhapatnam: A team of 11 divers along with specialist equipment including underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) have been airlifted by ENC IAF AN32, from Visakhapatnam to Guwahati on Saturday.

The team along with the equipment will be transported by IAF helicopters from Guwahati to nearest helipad at Khleihriat and expected to reach the accident site by Saturday late night.

The naval diving team is expected to join the rescue operations with first light on Sunday morning. A-15 miners are reported to be trapped in a coal mine in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.

Earlier an advance recce team comprising one officer and two clearance divers were airlifted by a naval Dornier to Guwahati and to the accident site for accessing the nature of rescue operation by road the late night of December 28.
