Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector B Lakshmikantham said that the district excelled in the electoral registrations in the State and secured Best Electoral Practicing District award in the state.

The award will be presented by the Governor ESL Narasimhan on the National Voters Day on January 25 (Friday).

He said that the same was recommended for a National award to the Election Commission of India.

Till now, the district enrolled 2,54,576 voters into the list within two months and organised various activities to sensitise the new votes.

He said that the District, Mandal and Village level officials worked hard and could achieve a target of 70 percent.

The Collector informed that the number of registered voters as on September 2018 was 30,51,122 and at present it was 33, 03,592, he said and added that the district achieved two world records like Guinness Book of World Record and the India Book of Records with the biggest Rangoli to create awareness among the public.
