Vijayawada: Former MLC and veteran Salivahana leader Ilapuram Venkaiah was elected as president of the AP Kummara Salivahana Sangham. The general body meeting of the Sangham elected Venkaiah for the 15th consecutive term.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah appealed to the State government to extend financial support to the Salivahanas and support their traditional pot and brick-making activity. He also appealed to the government to give Rs 3,000 monthly pension for potters and give them rights for collection of raw material including clay from irrigation tanks in villages.
