Vijayawada: As a part of 54th annual celebrations of Andhra Nataka Kalasamithi, playlet titled ‘Ateetam’ was performed at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Thursday. Three-day celebrations were commenced on Wednesday.
The second day programme was commenced with bunches of dance items presented by the disciples of Hemanth Kumar. Noted dancer Lekhya Bharani presented ‘Natyame Napranam’ and Nilaveni showcased ‘Trimurthy vandanam’ in Kathak dance style.
A short dance ballet ‘Amme Adiguruvite’ was performed by Priyanka, Teja, Manasa, Lalitha, Amitha, Amulya. The item ‘Pushpanjali’ was presented by Benisha, Lasya, Dedipya, Swathi, Sruthi, Sriyutha, Karthikeya and Sanjana.
The dance items impressed the gathering. Padmasree and Hemanth organised this dance event efficiently.
A family emotional drama ‘Ateetam’ was staged by Abhinaya Arts, Guntur. This was based on the consequences arouse due to the globalization. This playlet was penned by Sistla Chandrasekhar for the original story of Rama Chandramouli.
Sistla Chandrasekar dialogues were simple and powerful. Director Ravendra Reddy give apt treatment for the script.
Though the playlet was started in slow pace, gradually it picked up with the acting capabilities of the artistes V Ch K Prasad, M Rambabu, A Lakshmana Sastry, T Lakshmi and Ravindra Reddy.
Half of the playlet story line is common like similar earlier dramas, but the solution given is quite good.
Background score of P Leelamohan was good. P Siva supported the playlet with good set design and Phani with lighting.
Makeup was rendered by PS Giri. Since this playlet slot was given late hours (9 pm) most of the ground was empty. The available drama lovers appreciated the plays.
Goura Venkateswara Rao and Sai Kumari were felicitated by Andhra Nataka Kalasamithi on this occasion.
Karnati Lakshminarasaiah, Kamineni Pattabhiramaiah, Nannapaneni Nageswara Rao, Palaparthi Syamalanada Prasad, Kesava Rao participated in the meeting.
The 54th annual celebrations will be concluded on Friday with a famous mythological play ‘Srikrishna Rayabaram’ written by Tirupati Venkatakavulu and directed by A Venkateswara Rao.
