3 die after consuming industrial spirit
In a tragic incident, three people, including a woman, died and 11 others were hospitalised, after they consumed suspected industrial spirit at Uppara Colony and Swatantra Nagar of Pedagantyada mandal under Gajuwaka police limits in Vizag city on Sunday
Visakhapatnam: In a tragic incident, three people, including a woman, died and 11 others were hospitalised, after they consumed suspected industrial spirit at Uppara Colony and Swatantra Nagar of Pedagantyada mandal under Gajuwaka police limits in Vizag city on Sunday.
According to Gajuwaka Circle Inspector Korada Rama Rao, the deceased were identified as Kondodu, Appanna and Appayamma. All the victims were of Gajuwaka area and rag pickers working in the dump yard.
While picking up rag, they found a plastic can of liquid near a dumping yard on Saturday. Expecting that liquid to be alcohol, they consumed it.
As the condition of some of them was critical, they were being treated in the ICU at King George Hospital in the city, he added.
District Collector K Bhaskar along with policemen and excise officials visited the hospital. Bhaskar directed the medical officers to provide the best treatment to all the victims.
“Based on information, we have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC (suspicious death) and we will know the exact reasons for the death after the post-mortem, the police officer said.
