Mahindra Reva drives e2o into Hyd. Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Private Limited, a part of Mahindra group, on Tuesday launched Mahindra e2o electric car in the city.

Hyderabad: Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Private Limited, a part of Mahindra group, on Tuesday launched Mahindra e2o electric car in the city. Available with automatic transmission, the electric car is priced Rs 5.59 lakh (ex showroom Hyderabad). In addition, customers will have to pay a fixed monthly charge of Rs 2,999 for five years towards e2o care protection plan.

“Today as we launch the e2o in Hyderabad, it is our humble effort to make electric vehicles more accessible and easy to use for our customers in this city. Further, the timely intervention of the central government through the FAME scheme was a definitive boost to the electric vehicle (EV) industry in the India,” Arvind Mathew, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Reva, told media persons here after launching the electric car.

Going forward, we will keep our innovation quotient high to create an entire ecosystem to sustain a clean and green environment for a better tomorrow, he added. A few months ago, the central government has launched FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) scheme and lined up Rs 795 crore, six-year budget for promoting the electric automobiles in the country.

Under this, electric and hybrid vehicles receive incentives ranging from Rs 29,000 (for bikes) to Rs 1.38 lakh for cars. Mahindra Reva reduced the price of e2o by over Rs 90,000 after the scheme came into force a couple of months ago.
