The Mahindra Quanto facelift which could be rebranded as Canto has been spotted testing in Chennai once again. The sub-4 metre ladder frame UV will come with significant cosmetic upgrades on the outside.

Though the test mule is camouflaged, it can be noted that the Quanto facelift adopts a slit of a front grille which was first seen in the newly launched KUV100. The headlamps get angular and are mounted slightly higher compared to the outgoing model. The bumper too is all new with an integrated bull bar.

The vehicle continues with virtually untouched profile and rear. This particular test mule is of a base trim as indicated by the steel wheels and black bumpers. We expect the interior to undergo minor tweaks such as new color themes, trims and upholstery. We could also see the fully loaded variant offering a touchscreen infotainment system.

The 1.5-litre mCR100 engine of the old car is expected to be replaced by the TUV300’s mHawk 80 (essentially an improved version of the mCR100). The three-cylinder diesel engine produces 100 PS on board the existing Quanto and a relatively modest 84 bhp on board the TUV300. In addition to a standard 5-speed transmission, an AMT is also expected to be on offer.

The Mahindra Quanto facelift will co-exist with the TUV300 in the UV specialist’s portfolio but will be targeting a different set of target audience. It would be interesting to see how Mahindra plans to avoid cannibalization between its two ladder frame
