The crossover has donated its platform to the India-spec Vitara Brezza. The Suzuki Vitara S 1.4-litre BoosterJet variant for Europe was showcased at the recently concluded 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The crossover which is made in Hungary has been available with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines.

Based on the global C-Platform, the Vitara is a smaller and stylish replacement to the older Grand Vitara. The one-year old crossover derives its design cues from the iV-4 Concept. The car adopts a traditional SUV stance with upright pillars and boxy elements.

The Vitara S 1.4-litre Boosterjet is powered by a turbocharged petrol engine which has an impressive 138 bhp and 220 Nm of torque. Thanks to the light kerb weight of 1,210 kg, the variant has a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 10.2 seconds. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission (with paddle shifters). The Vitara S is also equipped with AllGrip AWD system. The new gen petrol engine by Suzuki is good for a fuel efficiency of 18.5 kmpl (EDC) and has a rated CO2 emission of 127 g/km.

The Vitara S receives visual enhancements like glossy black grille, smoked alloy wheels, vertical LED daytime running lights, dual-tone exterior color options and so on. Interior gets leather and suede upholstery, metal pedal covers and Smartphone Linkage Display audio system with Apple CarPlay, etc.

Suzuki’s Geneva Motor Show stall also had the 120 1.6-litre DDiS diesel 4×4 variant of the Vitara on display. It’s to be noted that the newly launched Vitara Brezza is based on the shortened version of the same platform.
