The Renault Kwid for Brazil is expected to source several components from India. The Renault Kwid has been spotted testing in Brazil for the first time without any camouflage. The SUV-ish small car which is gearing up to go on sale in the Latin American market will go head-on against the soon-to-be-launched Fiat Mobi.

The Kwid would be aiming to disrupt the small car market just like it did in India. Renault Brazil is expected to source several components for the car from India which is the primary manufacturing location. The micro-crossover which has been designed and developed in India is the first product to be based on the CMF-A low-cost architecture.

Visually, the Brazilian-spec Kwid differs from its Indian counterpart by means of a new rub-strip design, larger wing-mirrors and body colored rear bumper (the prototype however sports black bumper to throw the beholder’s off). The rest of the exteriors remain identical. We expect the interior to be carried over with color themes that appeal to the local tastes.

The powertrain options however would be entirely different. While the Indian variant is available with a 800 cc petrol motor and is about to be offered with a 1.0-litre petrol motor, the Brazilian model would adopt a 1.0-litre three-cylinder flex fuel motor which can run on both ethanol and petrol.

The Renault Kwid is expected to enter the Brazilian market towards the end of this year, probably at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in November.
