German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz has pulled out the S500 variant from the S-Class line up in India. However, customers who loved the V8, can still opt for the Maybach S500 variant that cost an additional Rs 10-15 lakh over the regular model.

German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz has pulled out the S500 variant from the S-Class line up in India. However, customers who loved the V8, can still opt for the Maybach S500 variant that cost an additional Rs 10-15 lakh over the regular model.

This week, Mercedes also launched the S400 at Rs 1.28 crore (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The Mercedes Maybach S500 though commands a little higher price than the S500, it does offer value added status quotient if not for additional features.

The Maybach S500 measures 5453mm in length as against 5246mm length of the S500, the wheelbase measures 3365mm as against 3165mm for the S500. The Maybach S500 also gets a slightly extra height of 1494mm as against the 1498mm height for the S500 Mercedes-Benz introduced the S-Class in India with the S500 trim.

The luxury sedan is powered by a V8 4663cc engine mated to seven-speed automatic S tronic transmission that generates 459bhp of power at 5250rpm and 700Nm of torque at 1800rpm. The same engine also powers the Maybach S500. The newly launched S400 has a smaller 2,996cc V6 engine that generates 330bhp at 5250 - 6000rpm and torque output of 480Nm at 1600-4000rpm, but also costs considerably lesser than the S500.
