Mahindra & Mahindra is set to focus on commercial vehicles, especially mini and pick-up trucks, for growth during the current fiscal. The utility vehicle major, which sold over one lakh pick-up and mini trucks with a growth of 41 per cent last fiscal, enjoys over 54 per cent market share in the segment. mahindra"We intend to focus on pick-up and mini truck segment because it offers huge opportunities for growth. Though the growth may not reach last year levels, but we are hopeful of logging in at least 20 per cent growth during the current fiscal," Satyendra Kumar Thakur, Zonal Sales Head-South, M&M, told media here on Tuesday. Kumar along with Mahesh Kulkarni, Sr GM, Pick Up and Maxximo, M&M, had launched new Bolero Maxi Truck Plus pick-up for Andhra Pradesh market. The automaker is also developing new commercial vehicle models which will cater to the specific requirements such as cold storages, logistics, etc. "These special segments also offer good growth opportunities," Kulkarni said. Replying to a query, he said M&M would soon launch the sub-four metre variant of Mahindra Verito sedan. "This model called Vibe will be launched within a month. However, we can't disclose whether it will be sedan or hatchback," he explained. On the new new Bolero Maxi Truck Plus, which is priced at `4.42 lakh (ex showroom, Hyderabad), he said the new pick-up has been designed to meet the needs of urban transportation needs.
