The World CSR Congress has named her in its latest list of the ‘50 Most Talented Green Leaders’. The award was conferred on her in Mumbai recently. The award is given to people and organisations setting examples in going about sustainability in order to usher in social change.
Among the prominent personalities in this year’s roll of honours, along with Karuna, include another Indian, Dr Amiya Kumar Sahu, founder-president of National Solid Waste Association of India, and Jane Henley, CEO, World Green Building Council; Maria Sillanpaa, founder, Sustainability Advisory Group (Finland) and Douglas Baker, chairman and CEO, Ecolab.
“It’s great to be recognised as a sustainability leader from India, especially in my area of work ‘Smart Cities’ where everything is pretty much seen through the prism of technology,” points out Karuna. Karuna is currently developing a ‘Smart City Protocol’ for Indian cities collaborating with various government and non-governmental wings.
