Launches OrigoFarms brand of agriculture products in Hyd market

Hyderabad: Origo Commodities, a leading player in post-harvest solutions and warehouse management services, on Wednesday announced its foray into retail business of agriculture commodities including stables.

The city-based company launched OrigoFarms brand under which it would sell branded agriculture produce, including rice, pulses, fruits, vegetables and spices through large-format retailers and others. It will initial market these products in Hyderabad before expanding to cities like Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi.

“We are investing Rs 50 crore in our retail business. Our initial target is to achieve Rs 100-crore turnover in each of the cities and states we are going to enter into. Our products will be available across 50 tier 1 and tier 2 cities in due course,” Sunoor Kaul, Director, Origo Commodities India Private Limited, told media after unveiling the retail brand and products range.

According to him, every OrigoFarms product is procured using the company’s traceable value chain, wherein every package can be traced back to the farm where it is grown. “OrigoFarms’ current product portfolio, competitively priced, comprises multi varieties of rice, pulses and all variety of spices,” he said.

Soon, the company plans to have a portfolio of 250 products, including dry fruits and flours. Replying to a query, he said the company was targeting a total turnover of Rs 650 crore in the current fiscal as compared with Rs 325 crore in last fiscal.
