Hyderabad: Chandigarh-based auto-rickshaw aggregation app, Jugnoo, has launched its services in Visakhapatnam. Currently, its services are being facilitated by 50 registered auto drivers.

“Vizag is infamous for its traffic woes. Due to rapid increase in the number of automobile vehicles (7.9 lakh in 2013 to 10.6 lakh in 2015) and narrow roads, the city witnesses chaos caused by traffic jams almost on a daily basis. Even the local auto-rickshaw drivers have earned a bad reputation since they keep competing with each other and stop on the roads abruptly to pick passengers,” a Jugnoo spokesperson said on Monday.

Therefore, to eliminate this issue, Jugnoo has introduced its services in the city with an aim to bring structure into this space and enable commuters to hail auto-rickshaws in a more convenient manner, he added.

Founded in 2014 by Samar Singla and Chinmay Agarwal, Jugnoo currently has over 12,000 autos empanelled under its brand across 35 cities. Around 35,000 people transact on the platform every day.

Meanwhile, Jugnoo today announced the integration of its iOS app with Siri, the voice-enabled personal digital assistant of Apple. “Last month, we introduced Jugnoo Bot in integration with Facebook messenger that increased our traction by over 10 per cent. It was an effort to give our users choices instead of imposing our app on them to book autos.

Integration with ‘Siri’ was also inspired by similar line of thoughts of giving our users options, while making the booking process easier,” said Samar Singla, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jugnoo. Furthering its move, Jugnoo is also working towards getting a similar feature for the Android and Windows phones as well, the company said.
