Cargill opens tech centre for aqua farmers
Cargill, which is into food and agriculture services, on Wednesday opened Technology Application Centre for aqua farmers at Kaikaluru in Andhra Pradesh. This development comes close on the heels of the company launching its first dedicated fish feed plant at Vijayawada.

The centre, which is designed to help aquaculture farmers access new innovations and apply the best possible solutions to grow healthy seafood and increase, covers 3.6 hectares of land that hosts 20 fish and shrimp ponds and features a training facility and research station to support innovation in aquaculture feed development. “India is an important and fast-growing aquaculture market.
This centre will enable Cargill to speed up the pace of product development and deliver better feed solutions to shrimp and fish farmers,” said Chad Gauger, Managing Director of Cargill’s aquaculture nutrition business in South Asia.
Alongside our new fish feed plant in Vijayawada and our shrimp feed plant in Rajahmundry, the center will enable Cargill to increase our support for India’s aquaculture industry, he added. The centre also serves as a facility to educate and train fish and shrimp farmers in feed application and better management practices, so that they can apply the new knowledge on their own farms and increase efficiency and profitability.
