It’s a request not to include ‘Manam’ in the ‘Crore Club’ and insult it because it’s an ode to my father

Addressing the media during the success meet of his family film, ‘Manam’, Nagarjuna said that it gives him immense happiness that his father, the Late Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s last film turned out to be such a big hit.

“I want his last film to live on forever and haven’t looked at it in the commercial angle at all. The counting of crores isn’t a big matter. If ‘Premabhishekam ‘ had released today, it would have collected 100 crore for sure. I am sure Telugu cinema will reach that 100 crore mark soon. But it’s a request not to include this film in the ‘Crore Club’ and insult it because it’s an ode to my father,” he explained talking about the film.

“I had been wondering how to introduce Akhil into films since a long time. But with this movie, I feel I am relieved of that one tension now. He’s a boy with clarity and is hard-working. We’ve listened to a couple of scripts for him and an announcement will be made soon,” he said.

However what made Nagarjuna most happy about his son’s screen presence was the comparison’s people are drawing with actor Mahesh Babu. A happy Nagarjuna said, “It’s great that even before he has had a release, he’s already drawing comparisons with Mahesh.”

Nagarjuna also informed all present that Mahesh Babu loved the story and showed an interest to work with director Vikram. “Mahesh was impressed with the film and asked me how I judged the story. In fact, he told me that he’s listening to a script by Vikram and asked me to give my judgement on it,” he said.
