The pen is mightier than the sword and thus people avoid pangas with Journalists. On several occasions, even big celebrities have had to bear the brunt of media fury for denying them interviews. Reports in media so instantaneous that they spread like wildfire. Of late, news websites and TV channels are resorting to dirty gimmicks to increase their numbers and TRP ratings.

Poonam Pandey' strip tease, Sex videos, sleazy pictures, Yellow journalism seems to the latest mantra of media to gain popularity in an industry where there is tough popularity. But what is shocking is that even the so called reputed media groups that claim to be leaders in the business use cheap tricks to lure readers! How then would you vouch for its credibility?

A case in point is the controversies surrounding National award winner Shweta Basu's prostitute racket and the very latest Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone. It's a known fact that Shweta Basu was caught running a flesh trad business. The media channels went berserk flashing the news and showing the actress in poor light. TV Channels run several special programmes on history of actors who had resorted to prostitution to make money.

On Sunday, it was the turn of India's leading daily, Times of India to post a video of Deepika Padukone with the headline OMG! Deepika Padukone's cleavage show.

The actress retorted with a stern message: “YES! I am a Woman. I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??”

Within minutes she was trending on Twitter while people poured their heart out supporting the actress for her bold statement against the giant media group. However, what followed was a shock to say the least. The TOI instead of apologising came up with a very lame and shameful comment saying: @deepikapadukone , It's a compliment! You look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew! :)

Well, what can we say? Is this the way to react or gain publicity? What makes even well-to-do media channels turn to sleaze and sex? Do they have to stoop so low to get people's attention?
