Danish Punjabi Singer Anita Lerche is popularly known as ‘Heer’ from Denmark. She graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (2001) in London. She has sung in 16 different languages and has released solo albums ‘I Love a Piano’ and ‘Heer’ from Denmark.

Anita is the first non-Asian woman from the West to sing and release an album in Punjabi. She received many awards, including a Danish World Music Award for “Maahiya Feat. Cheshire Cat”, MH1 Punjabi Music Award for Best NRI Female Debut, Popular Multilinguist Singer Award from Prof. Mohan Singh Foundation and Rooh-E-Punjab Award (The Soul of Punjab) from the International Cultural Society, Shamchurasi.

Anita has travelled all over the world performing and entertaining huge crowds with her unique and electrifying performances. Punjabi University, Patiala, has also recognised her grand work for Punjabi culture and language. The previous Indian Ambassador to Denmark, Ashok Kumar Attri, has named her as the cultural ambassador between Denmark and India. Anita is the Danish voice of Barbie in ‘Toy Story 2’ and ‘Toy Story 3’ as well as the Indian plane Ishani in Disney’s planes.

She recently sang the Danish version of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and three documentaries including ‘Fra Herlevtil Bollywood’ (From Herlev to Bollywood), DR2 (Denmark) and Kashish Punjab Di (The Attraction of Punjab).

Doordarshan had featured this versatile artiste, who has won the hearts of millions of people. Anita’s new album ‘Sadke Punjab Ton’ is all set to make great waves, with her new video having already been viewed by over 10 million music lovers on YouTube.

According to Denmark’s Ambassador in India, Freddy Svane, “Culture is one of the major bridge builders between countries, people, and human beings. Anita Lerche is a distinguished representative of the courage that makes the world smaller and the distances shorter. Music and dance is also a language which is understood by all. With Anita Lerche, Denmark and India seem to rock in perfect harmony. This is what we all need.”
