Aditi Rao Hydari has always been lauded for her acting skills and the ravishing beauty feels that the reason for it could be her choice of films. “I never thought that I would be an actor because I was always interested in dancing. Aditi Rao Hydari has always been lauded for her acting skills and the ravishing beauty feels that the reason for it could be her choice of films. “I never thought that I would be an actor because I was always interested in dancing. Acting happened to me by fluke. I was performing a classical dance and that was the time when director Sharada Ramanathan offered me the role in a Malayalam ‘Prajapathi’.
‘After the movie I got a lot of offers but I was adamant to work only in content based movies. I have always believed in my values and dignity and I never wanted to do anything by which I will lose my honour,” she said. 2015 is a packed year for Aditi who will be starring in ‘The Legend of Michael Mishra’, ‘Guddu Rangeela’, ‘Aur Devdas’ and ‘Wazir’. “I am overjoyed to be starring in all these five films. I enjoyed working with everyone in film industry.
Ali Zafar is fun to work with and Mahesh Bhatt is a man who takes care of you like a child. But of all, I am really privileged to be working with Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Wazir’. He is a man who can make you smile at any point of time. I feel that we both belong to the same age group as we behave the same way and he is as naughty as I am. The best quality about him is that he is disciplined and simple at the same time,” she quipped.
Talking about her rise to fame, Aditi says, “It was actually a tough journey to Bollywood being a Hyderabadi. I didn’t have a Godfather and people from South India are always treated as if they are only meant to act in regional films. But I am really thankful to my parents and mentor Manish Jha who supported me a lot. ‘I am an honest person and I don’t hesitate to call a spade a spade.
But the way I choose movies is different. I can’t hurt others and I can never pull down anybody because I understand the hard work of any person as I have been through the same phase. I am not dependent on anybody to fetch me work but yeah, I am lucky to have worked with all the good people in this industry and whatever I am today is all because of my hard work,” feels Aditi. The actress, who has starred in many supporting roles in movies, says that she has no qualms about it.
“It’s not just me who has done a lead role followed by a supporting role. People like Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra have also done the same. Actors today are not bothered about lead roles because there is a lot of storytelling in movies today and every character is given equal importance,” she says.
Quiz her about her dream role and Aditi is quick to react, “The only thing which I want to do more is dance in my films. Even though I am a dancer, I want offered many roles where I could prove my mettle. But yes, I am dancing a bit in my coming movies. These days, dance is only a promotional aspect of a movie. Gone are those days when actors used to dance around trees.”
