Zee TV always comes up with new and unique shows, this time too they are coming up with their new magnum opus "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani" a period drama starring Drashti Dhami and Siddhanth Karnick. After seeing the exciting promos which are currently on air there are high expectations regarding the show, the fans of the actress and avid television viewers are looking forward to this period drama. With Drashti away from the limelight after her show Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, her fans are eagerly waiting to watch their favourite actress again.


This high budgeted period drama starring yesteryears actress Anita Raj, Drashti Dhami and Siddhant Karnick was launched at the magnificent ITC Grand Bharat hotel in Gurgaon. The show is said to re-capture the lifestyle, hopes and aspirations of people from the pre-independence era, particularly the Indian royalty of 1940's. To give a promising start to the event Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar was roped in to make a dance drama sequence based upon the theme of the entire show. Drashti and Siddhant along with dancers from Sandip Soparrkar's team performed the elaborate dance drama. The entire cast was seen in their respective avatars donning period outfits, specially designed for them.


Sandip Soparrkar Said, “I am working with Zee TV now almost after a gap of 5 year, last was when I judged Dance India Dance L'll Masters season 1 with Farah Khan in 2010. It's always a pleasure to work for Zee its like coming back home and being with my family members."


Zee Tv Business Head Mr. Pradeep Hejmadi said, "Even when it comes to genres such as history and mythology, a most fascinating period that remains unexplored by Indian television is the pre independence era. This vibrant period of India's history that was a great upheaval also saw drama unfold in the lives of the royalty of the princely states".


Produced by Sunjoy and Comall Wadhwa of Sphere Origins "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani" starts from 27 July, The show is said to be a classic love story of a common girl and a king. Gayatri, played by Drashti, belongs to a small middle class family but later gets married to Ranaji Indravadan Singh Deo played by Siddhant, who is the prince of the royal family of Amerkot. The drama unfolds when she witnesses a sudden change in her life after she enters the royal family.
