Touted to be a Tollywood Historic Drama, Gauthamiputra Satakarni is the 100th movie for Balakrishna. Based on the life history of 2nd Century CE Satavahana ruler Gautamiputra Satakarni, the movie is being directed by Krish and features Balakrishna in the title role with Shriya Saran as the female lead.
The poster of the movie has a caption that reads, 'An Unsung Story of India's Greatest Warrior Emperor'. Gauthamiputra Satakarni is slated to release on January 12, 2017. The music for the movie is composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
