Rajnikanth’s ‘Kabali’ collides with Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’: Tickets for ‘Kabali’ booked for Sunday
Will Rajnikanth’s ‘Kabali’ conquer Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ box office run? Kabali tickets are all reserved for the first three days!
Will Rajnikanth’s ‘Kabali’ conquer Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ box office run? Kabali tickets are all reserved for the first three days!
Thailavar Rajnikanth is ruling the internet these days because of his upcoming and much awaited movie ‘Kabali’. The movie is all ready to hit the screens on July 22 and for all the good reasons, the enthusiasm and craze among the fans is unprecedented. As several companies in Bengaluru and Chennai have declared holiday on the release date, therefore, ‘Kabali’ ought to be something in fact big!
However, Salman Khan too came with a hit titled ‘Sultan’ who had a two-week run at the box office. But apparently, Sultan might lose its play and its audience once Thailavar’s ‘Kabali’ hits the big screens. ‘Sultan’ is in a vulnerable situation as it is going to be triumphed over by ‘Kabali’ very soon.
In the US, the tickets for ‘Kabali’ premiere on Thursday are charged $25 as opposed to $14 or $15 for standard releases. Rajnikanth’s movie was sold out within two hours. 400 theatres are to screen the movie there. The scenario is no different in the regional states. Back home, the obsession to watch the movie is reaching heights. According to the reports, there is a huge demand for tickets for ‘Kabali’ in the theatres of Chennai that availability of the same is becoming scarce.
Advance booking for the film began on July 15 whereas the movie is getting released on July 22 so one can measure the ‘Kabali’ madness. Chennai’s SPI Cinema is showing the film on its 27 screens amounting to 96 shows per day, has already sold all the tickets for the first three days, said the reports.
According to a Firstpost report, bookings opened on Monday morning across other theatres like Abirami (16 shows) in the city and tickets for the first three days have been sold out by 10 am. Requests from Thailavar fans to theatres flooded the social media regarding the accessibility of the tickets bookings.
However, issues have been raised concerned with the movie tickets. As per Government order, the price of the tickets cannot exceed Rs 120 in Tamil Nadu but there have been reports of high priced tickets (Rs 600) in Karnataka and Kerala. Nonetheless, nothing can stop the fans from watching ‘Kabali’ and therefore, they are ready to pay any price to watch the film on first three days of its release.
12,000 screens, in total for now are going to screen ‘Kabali’ which beats double the number of Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’. In the first three days itself, ‘Kabali’ will make Rs 200 crores, Kalaipuli Thanu, producer of the movie told India Today.
“Go to Mumbai and try to purchase a ticket of Sultan it would have cost you Rs 1500 , now you go to Bangalore and say Kabali, you will pay Rs 1500 per ticket, but let me tell you that in Tamil Nadu with just Rs 120/80 and 50 a ticket we will bring in 200 crores. So imagine what will happen then? We will be collecting ten times more than Sultan,” the producer told the website.
‘Kabali’ has also been dubbed into Hindi and most importantly, the film is going to get screened in almost 1,000 screens in North India. Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ has made a business of Rs 260 crores till Sunday and is still running strong. Since there wasn’t any big Hindi release, ’Sultan’ got its way clear and was playing pretty good. However, the entry of Rajnikanth’s ‘Kabali’ has somehow changed the picture and as both Salman Khan and Rajnikanth are superstars, therefore, this ‘Kabali vs Sultan’ will turn out to be a grand clash and something to look out for.
