With ‘Baahubali’ franchise raising the bar on Telugu cinema and opening the pan-India market in a big way, Telugu superstars from Chiranjeevi to Prabhas and Mahesh Babu to Jr NTR are trying to woo B-town glam divas like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, to give their big-budget flicks a pan-India appeal and also avoid casting south actresses repeatedly.
For instance, Megastar Chiranjeevi is doing a prestigious film ‘Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy’ and his production team reportedly approached glam diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for a ‘special’ role in the historic epic.
“Top-league Bollywood actresses will be a value addition to a big-budget film and fetch the film a pan-India appeal and also helps to expand Telugu film market,” says leading producer C Kalyan and president of Film Federation of India who is also looking to cast a B-town heroine for his next production with Balakrishna. “A top Bollywood actress will usher in some freshness in casting besides hype and glamour to the project,” he adds.

Meanwhile, superstar Prabhas who is riding on immense popularity of ‘Baahubali’ franchise is now reportedly looking to woo B-town beauties like Sonam Kapoor or Katrina Kaif in his next action extravaganza ‘Sahoo’.
“It’s inevitable for Prabhas to romance a Bollywood beauty since he has attained pan-India image and a B-town diva will make the film more attractive. For instance, Prabhas-Sonam combination will billed as happening than say Prabhas with a Telugu heroine,” says distributor Ramakrishna.
Besides expanding the market of Telugu film, most of these superstars have shared screen space with established Telugu actresses like Tammanah, Anuskha, Trisha, Kaajal, Samantha, Nayantara, and Shruti Haasan, so they are eyeing Bollywood to offer audience a fresh pairing. “Big stars can’t take the risk of repeating the heroines again and again and they need to find a pretty girl every time from either Bollywood or Mollywood,” concludes producer Prakash Reddy.
