Los Angeles: Actor Jake Gyllenhaal will be starring in World War II adventure thriller, "The Lost Airman." The "Southpaw" actor will also be producing the project along with John Lesher, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is based on Seth Meyerowitz's book "The Lost Airman: A True Story Of Escape From Nazi-Occupied France." The 36-year-old actor will be seen playing Arthur Meyerowitz, an American turret-gunner, whose plane was shot down over France in 1943.

Seth Meyerowitz, Anthony Mattero of Foundry Literary Media and Dan Bodansky of Dixon Talent will be the executive producers on the film. Lesher is currently working on "White Boy Rick", a drug drama starring Matthew McConaughey.
